                        Short Autobiography

I was born in Boulder, Colorado in 1958. My family moved to Darien, Ct. in 1961 when I was very young. I grew up in Darien enjoying typical sailing, boating, swimming and other waterfront activities. I attended public school in Darien through high school. I was a high school All American swimmer in the 50 freestyle - a claim to fame. I went to Colgate University in the fall of 1977 and got my BA in the spring of 1981. I married Debbie Gates (from Dedham, Mass) in 1982. After a short stay in Houston, Texas, I moved to Durango to work with my brother, Cap, who is a local practicing civil engineer. Three years of working with him was excellent experience and I moved on to work for a local appraiser in 1986. I purchased that business in August of 1989 and have been a private real estate consultant in Durango since that time. My wife and I have two wonderful children (a boy born in 1986 and a girl born in 1989). We love Durango and plan to stay.
